752 days after Uruguay declared a state of health emergency due to the COVID-19 epidemic, pretty much all Uruguay travel restrictions were lifted on April 1 2022.
What are the Uruguay entry requirements you need to be aware of when travelling to Uruguay?
- Show proof of vaccination as approved in your country of origin (one or two shots depending on the recommended dosis). Proof must be emitted by the health authority of your country.
- If you cannot show this proof, you will need to show a negative PCR or antigen test carried out not more than 72 hours prior to the embarking by a certified laboratory in your country of origin or transit. This is required for all people, aged six and older.
- You must have health insurance which covers your stay in Uruguay.
Since August 2022, you no longer need to complete any forms or health declarations.
And that’s it!
How to conduct yourself once in Uruguay
The Uruguay Ministry of Health requests that you use a face mask and maintain a distance of 2 metres when you are in close contact with other people.
No time period is mentioned for this.
All Uruguayans will be grateful that you follow this measure, particularly for the time period when you could be potentially incubating the virus. We will love you all the more for it. And appreciate you’re looking out for the local population.

Hi Karen
Kind of a dumb question but when you say health insurance, I’m assuming our regular coverage here in the states will be sufficient. Or do we need travel health insurance two different things. Some countries actually do require that…
You’re right! — K
When I click on the link it says the health declaration form cannot be found. Is this requirement still valid?
Sorry Johannes, I thought we had updated this. As you so rightly deduce, it’s no longer required.

— Saludos, Karen
If my vaccine has been more than 9 months, can I enter Uruguay? Thanks
That’s a good question, Judy, and one that I don’t feel qualified to answer… my impulse is that if that is the minimum your country requires from you, that should be fine for Uruguay. But you should check with your airline. Best, Karen
If you had covid in the last 90 days and can prove it with a positive result but you are also unvaccinated will this be accepted?
I think that is what my article is saying…?
Thank you! this is exact what I need
So happy to help! — Karen
So happy to hear that!
Bonjour est ce que l attestation complémentaire santé (cmu) de la sécurité sociale suffit pour entrer à uruguay ? Merci
If that provides you with international travel insurance, then I would assume that yes. Best wishes, Karen
