Sometimes it’s all about your hosts when you choose a hotel. This Punta Del Diablo accommodation is a standout for the super friendly owners. Nothing is too much for Nicolás and Verónica.

El Diablo y El Mar was founded in 2012. It’s a little way out of the main town so it’s a very peaceful spot 2 minutes  from the beach by car and 10-15 minutes walk. Nicolás is happy to run you down to the beach in their golf cart or pick you up at the bus station.

Accommodation is no frills and super clean. You can choose from rooms with private bathroom and kitchenette (the most economical option), right up to a duplex apartment or tiny house, professionally designed to maximise use of space and include a fully equipped kitchen. Rooms have little terraces with hammocks set amongst purple bougainvillea. The lovely grill space has a gorgeous living green roof. I loved the heated pools with jacuzzi and the decent sized beds with good quality mattresses.

Guest rave about the owners who speak English, Spanish and Portuguese. Whatever you need they’re there to help. From getting help to set up the barbecue, to opening the pool for early morning swims, to getting your breakfast just right. They are sooo helpful and friendly. While I was there Nicolás and family drove and accompanied a French guest, a solo female traveller, to Cabo Polonio for the day ❤️
