What you should know

We are just one block from the colonial square, two blocks from Plaza Independencia and two blocks from the sea. It’s a very central location meaning you can walk everywhere and with excellent access to public transport. However this means street noise. 98% of our guests say our double-glazing works extremely well to keep the noise level down but very light sleepers please be warned.

Casa Sarandi has a perfect location, walking distance to the most interesting parts of town. A drink on the balcony, before bed is always a nice end to the evening, but the best part of the stay is the amazing attention Karen gives all her guests. She likes to find out what interests you and then goes out of her way to find excellent events and choices that are tailored to each guest. Music is always a pleasure and Karen found the most fascinating bands I never would have found by myself. Music, food, shopping, history, wine, whatever your interest, Karen will find you the best in Montevideo. Consider yourself fortunate to stay at Casa Sarandi!

This guesthouse has everything going for it: a great location right in the middle of the city, comfortable rooms, and excellent plumbing. We slept incredibly well here – the bed was big and comfortable, and the roll-down shutters over double-glazed windows make for a quiet, dark room in the middle of a bright, noisy city. Having a kitchen to make breakfast meant leisurely mornings. But best off all is the host, Karen. She sussed out our tastes and interests from our first meeting and made recommendations throughout our week-long stay. They were all great recommendations – for sights, for events, for food. Karen clearly loves this city, and her love is infectious. We highly recommend staying here if your travels bring you to Montevideo.
